Day 1 Mt. Elgon National Park / Teremi Falls

Mt. Elgon National Park
Mt Elgon National Park is an extinct volcanic mountain situated on the boarder of Kenya and Uganda. The highest point in Kenya in Lower Elgon at 4,301m above sea level followed by Koitoboss Peak at 4,222m above sea level. The afro-montane ecosystem has even been proposed as a trans-boundary ecosystem and is one of the five critical major water towers in the country.
The major attractions in the park include: variety of fauna, mammals such as cave mining elephants, giant forest hogs, cape buffalos, plain zebras, olive baboons and other primates, over 240 bird species, Caves and Waterfalls. One of the main point of interest is the elephant maternity cave at Chesamo where elephants go for mating and just when they are about to deliver their young ones.
Teremi Falls
Teremi Falls is another land mark in the tourist map of Bungoma County. The falls are located on the slopes of Mt. Elgon and are approximately 50Km from Bungoma.
The name of the falls means ‘instant flow of water downwards’ and has aesthetic and spiritual perceptions among the local community.
The vegetation around the falls makes it ideal for tourists who wish to relax in a serene environment.

Wekelekha Rocks / Sikele sya Mulia Day 2
Wekelekha Rocks
This site is located just 4Km from Bungoma town in a village called Wekelekha. The rocks are unique in that huge boulders rest on smaller rocks giving the impression that they may tilt at any time should strong winds sweep at the base, however the rocks are stable just like the leaning tower of Pisa in Italy. Small caves are also found dotting the rocks.
Sikele sya Mulia
Sikele sya Mulia is a prime rock of its kind in Bungoma County. The rock is located 17 Km from Bungoma in Namwacha village.
Tourists troop to this rock to see foot prints of Mulia. Mulia was a Bukusu seer with extraordinary powers and therefore a great man of his days and is said to have stepped on the rock. However, there are other prints on the rock of Mulia`s wife, son, animals (wild and domestic) and traditional appliances which clearly illustrates the rich Bukusu culture.

Mwibale wa Mwanja
Mwibale wa Mwanja or sometimes called Namakanda Rock is another site located 20 Kilometers from Bungoma Town. It is a volcanic pyramid-shaped rock rising over 300 feet above the ground and has a 25km circumference which takes around 2 hours to circum-navigate it.
Once on the summit one can view the nearest towns of Bungoma, Mumias, Webuye and even Tororo in Uganda. The summit provides a panoramic view of the Nzoia and Mumias Sugar belts.
The rock is also a source of springs such as Fuchani, Namasela and Mulondo and also has a cave called Mbinga. The rock is an attraction to tourists mainly for rock climbing.
Sang alo hills
Sang alo hills is located 17km away from Bungoma town. It is one of the volcanic rocks that were formed due to geological process that took place several centuries ago. It has several caves, a home of various trees with medicinal value. The circumference of the hill is 22km and locals believe that it can take somebody two hours to walk around it. It has several peaks once on top of the peaks it gives one a panoramic view of Bungoma town, Mumias, Webuye and a beautiful view of Nzoia and Mumias sugar belt. This place is captivating.
